CROSS DOCK BAR CODE SYSTEM

When the system crashes, GNC basically has to shut down operations until IBM comes and fixes what caused the failure. Inventory will not be able to be kept do to the systems not running and unless an employee hand counts every piece of product in the store. This is an almost unfeasible task because of the amount of products GNC carries. That means any products that need to be reordered will not be which can cause chaos. It is recommended for GNC to carry at least one or two cross dock bar code systems. What these systems do is keep track of the store inventory with its own software. By simply scanning the bar code of a product, one can find the price at which it sells for, the amount that is left in stock, when a new shipment will be delivered based on the sales history, and also the option to reorder the product at any time that is wanted is available as well. This will upgrade the store in dramatic fashion because it can be used on a day-to-day basis as well as a perfect backup system for when the initial system does crash.
